StarTimes Uganda Premier League
Saturday’s Result
KCCA FC 1-0 Vipers SC
We fell to our first defeat of the season after a lacklustre Saturday afternoon display at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.
Despite a resilient performance from the boys especially in the second half, the efforts to atleast salvage a point failed as the Kasasiro Boys edged us to win 1-0 courtesy of Muzamir Mutyaba’s goal.
Coach Edward Golola made three changes from the team that won against URA FC on Tuesday with Brian Nkuubi who was captain of the day starting ahead of Abraham Ndugwa in midfield. Goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora returned to start ahead of Derrick Ochan while Innocent Wafula made it to the starting line-up in place of Allan Kayiwa.
A sloppy start saw our opponents dominate proceedings but the boys remained resilient to weather through the early pressure. However, the resilience caved in the 31st minute when Mutyaba’s strike deflected off Paul Willa’s shin to grant the hosts the lead.
In the second stanza, there was a huge improvement and the Venoms came all out, making several inroads. The manager made changes bringing on Kayiwa for Wafula and the former showed instant impact, injecting more pace on the right wing. Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye and Brian Kalumba later came on to replace Nkuubi and Tito Okello respectively.
Kayiwa nearly levelled matters with three minutes on the clock but the KCCA FC goalkeeper Jamil Malyamungu was well stationed to parry away a curling effort from the winger.
WHAT IT MEANS
Despite the loss, we maintain our stay on top of the table with 33 points in 14 games.

Our last game in the final first round will be a short trip to Luzira to face Maroons FC on Friday, November 22.
