Tuesday, October 22 was a happy day for our utility player Geoffrey Wasswa who returned to action for the first time since February.
An injury on his left knee saw him miss out the closing stages of last season and had to undergo a surgery in June to be able to return to the rails.
After recovering fully, Wasswa came back as we overcame BUL FC 2-1 to go top thanks to goals from Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye and Allan Kayiwa. He came on as a second half substitute in the 64th minute replacing Tumwesigye.
Wasswa expressed delight for returning, recovering fully and promised to work hard to recapture the form he had before he got injured.
“With over 7 months on the sidelines with an injury, I returned to action in our 2-1 victory over BUL FC as a substitute in the 64th minute and enjoyed playing again. Am thankful to Vipers SC and the fans for keeping their faith in me.”

“I was happy to play again and that was a good feeling in a long time. I will work hard to make sure I return to my best.”
Coach Edward Golola indicated Wasswa’s return is important to the team given his ability to play different roles and termed his return as good as a new signing.
“I am happy to see Wasswa back in the team, he is a versatile player who can help us in many aspects. He is very important in our squad and his return comes at the right time. He is more of a new signing for us at this time.”

Wasswa was an unused substitute as the Venoms returned to action on Saturday away against Onduparaka FC last week and on Tuesday this week against Kyetume FC.
