Kyetume FC vs Vipers SC
Namboole stadium, 4pm
Vipers sports club heads to Namboole seeking to add to the decent record against newly promoted sides when Kyetume hosts us in a televised StarTimes Uganda Premier League (UPL) clash on Tuesday evening at 4:00pm.
Last season, the Venoms beat then newcomers Ndejje University, Nyamityobora and Paidha Black Angels in the opening round thus the lads will be keen to treat Kyetume the sane way away at Mandela national stadium, Namboole.
Admittedly, failing to see out a relatively manageable Onduparaka at the Greenlight stadium, was deeply frustrating but the point we earned, maintained our grip on the league summit however a quick response will be required as dropped points against an equally struggling slaughters, would be a huge setback.
Vipers tactician Edward Golola flirted about his opponent having a good defence as well as a couple of experienced players like Robert Ssentongo, Vincent Kayizzi, Isaac Kirabira among others but has faith his charges are an equal match.
“Yes, they are quite organised in the back. We want to come and win but the experience bit of it is not something to scare us. We have a balanced squad that has both the young and tested players who have what it takes to challenge any opponent.”
Vipers SC tactician, Edward Golola
Golola further added that despite his team travelling that long 800kms distance less than two days ago, they are all in good shape to accomplish the task ahead.
“The boys are fine both physically and mentally but we are also happy to welcome back those that didn’t travel with us.”
The Opposition:
Kyetume’s home record is not that good having won just two games at Namboole against Proline a few days ago and the 1-0 victory over SC Villa on match day one.
The Slaughters have the second least number of goals scored managing just 5, best only to Police FC with 4 implying there is a lack of power in their front line which the Venoms must capitalise on.
Team News:
Golola will once again ring some changes in his personnel as he looks to avoid a burnout after that tiresome journey to and from Arua hence Innocent Wafula and Rahmat Ssenfuka stand chances to feature after recovering from bouts of fever which saw both missing the games against Bul and Onduparaka.
Frank Tumwesigye aka Zaga is ruled out with a cold but Denis Mwemezi is back in contention having missed the West Nile tie due to the Masaza Cup final where he was crowned top scorer with 7 goals.
Dan Sserunkuma is also available for selection again as the striker was left out of the travelling contingent to Arua last week.
A win will enable Vipers to move further atop the league summit with five matches left to wind up the UPL first round engagements.
