StarTimes Uganda Premier League
Vipers SC v Proline FC
Saturday 5th October 2019
St Mary’s stadium, 4:00pm
Following a frustrating engagement away to the Jogoos yesterday, Vipers Sports Club hosts Proline FC in another anticipated league thriller at St Mary’s stadium this Saturday at 4:00pm.
The Venoms will be looking to return to winning ways after two consecutive draws against Mbarara City FC at home and SC Villa away which has left us lying in sixth position with 8 points on the league log.
On the above background, we are desperate to find form hence there is no more important time to turn the sorrows away than the weekend clash. And ahead of the encounter, we take you through the key statistics regarding both clubs.
- Proline Soccer Academy bought Nalubaale FC from tycoon Njubi in 2009 and played the season under that name before eventually renaming the team Proline FC during the 2010/11 league season.
- Vipers and Proline will be meeting for the 15th time in the Uganda top flight league with the Venoms commanding superiority in the previous 14 meetings having registered 11 wins, 2 draws and just 1 loss, scoring 26 goals against 8 in the process.
Head to Head:
Meetings: 14
Vipers wins: 11
Draws: 2
Losses: 1
Goals for: 26
Against: 8
Points: 35
- Both clubs have had change of names for rebranding purposes as Vipers was previously Bunamwaya Sports Club until 2012 while Proline FC changed from Nalubaale in 2010.
- Out of the 7 home fixtures against Proline, the Venoms boost 5 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss scoring 14 goals conceding only 4.
Previous 5 matches at Vipers home
2011/12 Vipers 3-0 Proline
2012/13 Vipers 1-2 Proline
2013/14 Vipers 1-0 Proline
2016/17 Vipers 3-0 Proline
2017/18 Vipers 3-0 Proline
- Vipers only loss against Proline occurred on 12th April 2013 at Buikwe playground when Mike Serumaga scored the winner in a 2-1 victory which sustained their stay in the Uganda premier league.
- Proline FC has been relegated twice in the previous 5 league seasons, at the end of the 2013/14 season but they regained top flight division status in 2016/17 before dropping again during the 2017/18 season and eventually bounced back at the start of this season.
- The corresponding fixture at St Marys stadium during the 2017/18 season ended 3-0 in favour of Vipers courtesy of goals from Tadeo Lwanga, Duncan Seninde and Brian Nkuubi as the Venoms went on to lift the league crown under Portuguese Jorge Duarte da Costa.
- Vipers come into this fixture on the back of a disappointing 0-0 draw away to SC Villa while Proline overcame Express 2-1 at the startimes stadium at Lugogo.
- Samson Ceasar Okhuti now at Onduparaka remains Vipers leading goal scorer in the league encounters between both teams with 3 goals.
A win will see the Venoms back into the top four while a draw or a loss further keeps our winless streak going.
