SC Villa v Vipers SC

Namboole stadium, 8pm

Vipers travel to Namboole Stadium for their clash with SC Villa on Wednesday evening looking to bounce back from a shock 2-2 stalemate with Mbarara City.

In the previous fixture, Vipers failed to contain the visitors who went on to equalise in the last minutes at St Mary’s stadium.

The Venoms had started well winning their opening two games until their draw with the Ankole Lions and will now have to look for a quick return to winning ways, especially now that October presents a busy schedule.

Edward Golola’s side has improved going forward this season but has concerns in  defence; they have let in three goals in three matches.

However, with the return of first choice goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora, there should be hope that the visitors will be more solid than before.

“We have put the past game behind us and worked on the areas that were wanting. We are set for the clash on Wednesday and the boys are aware and keen to get good results.”

Vipers SC Coach, Edward Golola

The last visit for Vipers in Namboole ended in a 3-1 victory last season but Golola has cautioned his charges on complacency saying they should play each game like its a final if they are to have hopes of winning silverware.

He said; “…of course this is a new campaign, a lot has changed, we are not going to dwell so much on the past result. Instead we intend to approach every game seriously and playing under flood lights will not be an excuse.”

Team News:

Fabien Mutombora is expected to start in goal having recovered from the fever that saw him miss the 2-2 draw with Mbarara City.

Similarly Innocent Wafula is also back and will be available for selection against the Jogoos.

Geofrey Wasswa is fully fit to make his first appearance in nine months after undergoing a knee surgery. The versatile player is expected to make the match day squad.

Farouk Musisi continues to serve his two match ban but should be available for Vipers next game against Proline FC. Aziz Kayondo returns to left back.

Karim Watambara and Frank Tumwesigye maybe selected to feature having looked impressive in training.

Ibrahim Tembo returns from a compassionate  leave and a decision on whether he will play will be made by the technical team.
