Vipers SC v Mbarara City FC
(Live on Sanyuka TV)
St Mary’s stadium, 3pm
Vipers SC enter their match day 3 high on confidence and are excellent at both ends of the pitch, having scored four times in two games and conceded once.
They dispatched Bright Stars 3-1 away before edging Tooro United 1-0 even with a numerical disadvantage following Farouk Musisi’s send off.
While Mbarara City’s last visit at the St Mary’s stadium saw them put up a spirited fight in the Pilsner Super 8 semi finals which they lost to the hosts on penalties 5-3, a lot has changed in the latter’s squad.
We have not seen more than one goal scored between these sides since last season therefore more effort will be needed especially in the final third and an early goal to get things done and avoid pressure.
Edward Golola will task Fahad Bayo, Dan Sserunkuma, Allan Kayiwa, Tito Okello, Abraham Ndugwa and Denis Mwemezi to probe the Ankole Lions back line for goals.
Team News:
Farouk Musisi begins his two match suspension after being sent off against Tooro United.
Innocent Wafula resumed training after overcoming fever but maybe doubtful for this game.
This fixture comes too early for Frank Tuwesigye, Karim Watambara and Shabam Muhammed who are on a recovery path from injury.
Rashid Toha is fit and could make his Vipers debut against Mbarara City since joining from Onduparaka in July.
Henry Kitegenyi is out after picking a leg injury during a practice match midweek.
Aziz Kayondo returns to the team fold and will replace suspended Musisi at left back.
