Here’s the latest team news update from our medical team ahead of Saturday’s Uganda Premier League (UPL) clash against Mbarara City FC.

Vipers sports club quartet of Paul Willa, Halid Lwaliwa, Fahad Bayo and Allan Kayiwa returned to training at Kitende after the international break to step up preparations for Saturday’s UPL clash with Mbarara City FC.

The Venoms enjoyed some two days off last week as the Uganda Cranes made the journey to Kenya for a friendly match against Harambee stars which ended into a one all draw at Moi sports complex Kasarani.

Coach Edward Golola gave the remaining players a rest to recharge their batteries ahead of what promises to be a mouth watering encounter against the Ankole Lions over the weekend.

Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye and Karim Watambara have also stepped up comebacks after being placed on special training programmes in an effort to prepare their returns from injury though the weekend fixture comes too early for the duo.

Striker Muhammed Shaban who hasn’t featured since the transfer from Raja Casablanca of Morocco due to an injury, trained on his own together with Kenyan import Innocent Wafula who is recovering from a bout of fever, as they were put through their paces.

Defensive kingpin Livingstone Mulondo remains sidelined following a knee injury while Geofrey Wasswa is steadily recovering and takes part in all training programmes as he continues to heal.

Vipers started the season brightly with a 3-1 win on the road against Bright Stars FC before dispatching off hard fighting Tooro United in a 1-0 victory at Kitende to round up the first two games with maximum points as the chase for league honours continues.

However, the would be fixtures against BUL FC at home and Onduparaka away, were both called off during the international break hence the Venoms will be eager to pick from where they stopped when the western Uganda based side visits.

With two wins out of two on the spin so far, the squad looks re-energised and a perfect performance seems to be looming large on the horizon this Saturday, be there.
