Bayo leads Vipers cast in Cranes team

Four of our players have today been named in the Uganda Cranes 25- man provisional squad that will face Kenya in an International friendly slated for 8th September 2019 in Nairobi.

New signing Fahad Bayo returns to the national team fold after a year since he was last summoned.

Striker Bayo has been a revelation with the Venoms. His fine start to the season has earned him a call-up with the Cranes.

The striker who took no time to impress at St. Mary’s stadium has so far played two games scoring two goals and registering an assist.

The interim head coach of the Cranes Abdallah Mubiru formerly worked with Bayo at Kibuli SS and has called him back to the team.

Defender Paul Willa, who worked with coach Abdullah Mubiru at Police FC, has also been summoned.

The other Venoms on the squad are defender Halid Lwaliwa, midfielder Allan Kayiwa and right back Paul Willa who worked with Mubiru at Police FC before joining us this season.

Defender Halid Lwaliwa has been recalled to the national team after missing out on AFCON 2019 through injury.

Our immediate former captain Taddeo Lwanga currently plying his trade with Tanta SC in Egypt is also part of the summoned squad.

The local based players will train on Thursday morning in Lugogo before flying out the same day later in the evening while the foreign based stars will connect from their clubs direct to Kenya.

Midfielder Allan Kayiwa completes the list of Venoms in the national team.

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (Fufa) is using the Federation of International Football Associations (Fifa) intentional break to prepare some of the players for the two legged 2020 CHAN qualifiers against Burundi and the 2021 AFCON Campaign that starts in November when Uganda Cranes plays Burkina Faso and Malawi.
