Mwemezi, Kitegenyi & others unveiled

We officially unveiled our new signings ahead of the 2019/20 football season.

Henry Kitegenyi joined the Venoms from Kansai Plascon while Denis Mwemezi came in from Buganda province ‘Ssese’ where he has been playing in the Masaza Cup competition.

The striking duo were looked at by many rival clubs but opted to join Vipers where they will be plying their trade beginning this season.

Kitegenyi scored over 25 goals for Kansai Plascon in the Fufa Big League in the last 2 seasons. He was also joint top scorer in the 2018/19 Uganda Cup with Patrick Kaddu.

He is known as ‘Ighalo’ by his teammates, his pace, aggressiveness and powerful left foot shot make him a prized asset hence his addition will improve Vipers goal return.

Furthermore, Denis Mwemezi, another exciting, slippery and skillful striker will be one of the youngsters to watch out for this season.

He has been so impressive in the on going Masaza competition topping the scorers charts with 7 goals for Ssese province.

Despite having not played at a stage as competitive as the top flight league, the 18 year old says he is not afraid but rather excited.

“This is a dream come true for me. I have always wanted to play for Vipers and my chance has arrived. I’m very happy,” he said after being unveiled.

Meanwhile Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye returned from loan at Express FC where he had been since January this year.

In line with the club’s policy of developing and nurturing young talent which has in the recent years yielded fruit, seven players were promoted from the youth side to the main team by the technical director Eddie Butindo.

He stated, “we have followed these players for sometime and we are convinced they are well prepared for a bigger challenge.”

“We are therefore happy to promote  7 players from our academy to continue to grow and develop with the mainstream team.”  added Butindo.

Among those promoted were goalkeeper Denis Kiggundu, center backs Ahmed Amayo and Jacob Ocao.

Two midfielders Karim Watambara and Bobosi Byaruhanga as well as Richard Basangwa and Najib lga who play a striking role were also recommended.
