KCCA SA 3-2 Vipers JT
The Junior Venoms suffered a painful defeat in a closely contested affair against KCCA Soccer Academy this evening at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.
Both teams started on equal footing, with KCCA’s Opio Sunday and Sadat Anaku coming close while Vipers JT’s Iga Najib had his goal cancelled for offside.
In the 12th minute, KCCA SA got the breakthrough when anchorman Joseph Kafumbe’s free kick was too strong for goalkeeper Mutwalib Mugolofa to handle to make it 1-0.
Tense moments followed that saw Vipers JT defender Gavin Kizito and KCCA scorer Kafumbe get cautions for foul play in the following two minutes.
Najib got on the score sheet in the 28th minute with a well taken penalty after Ivan Asaba was fouled inside the area to level matters.
KCCA SA goalkeeper Nsubuga then made a point blank save to deny the Venoms from a corner in the 34th minute.
The game went into half time tied at 1-1.
The coaches in the 51st minute introduced striker Sam Ssenyonjo for Mpanga Sula to bolster the Vipers attack.
In the 57th minute, Joseph Kafumbe struck again from a distance to make it 2-1 for the hosts.
Ssenoga Muhammad replaced Nsereko Muhammad after 64 minutes.
Substitute Sam Ssenyonjo almost equalised after a goal mouth scuffle but failed to connect well and the ball went inches off the post.
KCCA’s striker Sadat Anaku then scored a third in a counter attacking situation to make it 3-1 for the Kasasiro boys in the 79th minute.
With the game looking as good as finished, Kawooya struck an unstoppable free kick past KCCA goal keeper Nsubuga in the 89th minute to make it 3-2, but it was too little too late as the referee ended it moments later.
