Fufa Juniors League
Maroons JT v Vipers JT
Maroons stadium, Luzira
Our Juniors return to action tomorrow (May 24) when they visit Maroons Junior Team at the Prisons ground in Luzira as the FUFA Juniors League resumes.
This game was meant to be played in December but was rescheduled to allow Maroons’ players sit their final examinations.
The Venoms were in great form prior to the league recess in March and had not tested defeat since their loss to Onduparaka junior team.
Najib Iga fresh from winning the National Copa Coca cola secondary schools football championship with St Mary’s Kitende will be eager to continue his goal scoring run against the struggling hosts.
“Its not all about me but the team, thank God we are in good health after busy days in Jinja. We are confident we shall complete the task in Luzira,” said the youngster lga.
The striker was the man of the match in the reverse fixture as he scored a hattrick against the prison warders at Kitende in Vipers’ 4-0 victory.
He has 14 goals to his name, eight behind KCCA’s Sadat Anaku therefore all eyes will be on Iga as his team will look to him for inspiration.
Meanwhile Maroons has won just two games, the least in the Treble group, and are second last on the table with just 12 points.
Its been months since they last registered victory and it will be even tougher to stop a better placed and motivated Vipers junior side.
A win for Vipers will see them overtake KCCA at the top of the table. The Lugogo side have 38 points while Vipers go into this tie with 36 points.
