Friday’s Result

Vipers SC 1-2 URA FC

Vipers SC lost ground in the chase for the league title after yet another disappointing result.

The Venoms despite putting up a spirited fight in the second half fell 2-1 to visiting URA FC in the game played at St. Mary’s stadium on Friday.

Coach Michael Nam Ouma made several changes in the team with youngster Bobosi Byaruhanga starting in the midfield.

Steven Mukwala started up front as the main striker with Brian Nkuubi and Innocent Wafula playing the supporting cast.

We started the better side with Ibrahim Kiyemba’s cross from the right flank inside the opening minute cutting across the goal line with no one to tap home.

It was the visitors who took the lead through Shafic Kagimu firing home at the 26th minute mark.

There was an injury blow for the team with Byaruhanga limping off after sustaining an ankle injury and was replaced by Hamis Kiiza.

Moments later, Tom Masiko was replaced by Ibrahim Tembo before the break.

The team improved in the second half but failed to capitalize on some of the chances created and the visitors doubled the lead at the hour mark through Victor Kilama.

Six minutes later, Kiiza pulled one back converting from the spot.

Despite efforts in the closing stages of the game, the visitors remained resilient at the back to deny us.

Vipers SC remain second on the log with 50 points. Our next outing will be away to Police FC next week.
