Stanbic Uganda Cup

Quarterfinal

Proline FC v Vipers SC

Tuesday 12th February 2019

Startimes Stadium, Lugogo

4:00pm

Vipers sports club will for the first time this season play away from Kitende in the Stanbic Uganda Cup competition though its the fourth successive fixture against a lower league opposition after Wednesday’s draw.

In the fixtures released today, Fufa competitions director Hajati Aisha Nalule has confirmed dates for all quarter final engagements, its now official big league side Proline hosts Vipers on Tuesday 12th March 2019 at Startimes Stadium Lugogo.

Our journey started with Rusekere Growers which never turned up for the round of 64 tie, then we dislodged Kansai Plascon in the next round before Kiboga Young tested the Venoms might at the round of 16 and its now Proline.

This knockout tournament has no clear formula when faced with lower league teams but Vipers always gets the better of such opponents save in 2015 when Kyambogo United surprisingly eliminated us at the round of 64 to mark the only time the Venoms have ever lost to a lower league opponent in the competition.

A continuation in this tournament, provides Vipers the opportunity to fight for a double which eluded us last season after falling 1-0 to KCCA in the final at Bukedea Emokori grounds when we had wrapped up the league crown.

As per the competition regulations, a tie after normal time calls for an extra time of not more than 15 minutes each half before the dreaded spot kicks from the penalty mark can apply.

Mon 11th March 2019
