Proline FC v Vipers SC
StarTimes stadium, Lugogo
Vipers Sports Club will face Fufa Big League outfit Proline FC in the quarterfinals of this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup.
The development comes after the quarterfinal draw held on Wednesday at Fufa House, Mengo to determine the fixtures.
The Venoms will visit Proline FC at StarTimes stadium, Lugogo on Tuesday (March 12). This is the first time that we shall play on the road in the Uganda Cup this season.
Head coach Michael Nam Ouma indicated that there is no weak team left and thus the team will go into the game against Proline FC with full commitment.
“Reaching the quarterfinal stage is not easy in a knockout tournament like the Uganda Cup. So at this stage, there is no weak team. Therefore we shall go into the game fully focused and offer our best effort to make sure we advance to the next stage.”
Michael Nam Ouma, Vipers SC tactician after the draw.
Last season, Vipers SC earned a double victory against Proline FC before they got relegated from the top tier league.
The Venoms are seeking to make their third final in the last four years and perhaps win the annual knockout tournament for the second time since 2016 when we defeated Onduparaka FC.
To reach the quarterfinal stage, Vipers SC had eliminated Kiboga Young FC at the round of 16 thanks to Abraham Ndugwa’s late winner.
Prior to that, the Venoms had dumped out Kansai Plascon at the round of 32 while Rushekere Growers FC didn’t make the trip to St. Mary’s Kitende thus the team getting a walkover at the round of 32.
