Tooro United 1-1 Vipers SC

Vipers sports club let another big opportunity to move within a point of leaders KCCA FC slip out of their hands by dropping points for the second successive match against Tooro United in an entertaining 1-1 draw played today at Buhinga stadium.

Kenyan Coach Micheal Nam Ouma made five changes to the lineup that played SC Villa over the weekend, Ibrahim Kiyemba returned from suspension in place of Abdul Karim Niyigizimana who dropped to the bench while teenage sensation Aziz Kayondo started at left back as Tom Masiko Ibrahim Tembo and Hamis Kiiza were all named to start leaving out Moses Waiswa, suspended Tadeo Lwanga and Tito Okello respectively.

The Venoms approached the match with a major aim of getting back to winning ways and we almost got a goal in the 3rd minute when Dan Sserunkuuma met a cross from Innocent Wafula only to be denied by the crossbar.

However, despite dominating possession, Vipers conceded from a set piece after Rahmat Ssenfuka was caught out of position before he tripped Allan Kayiwa and the resultant free kick was superbly executed by Godfrey Lwesibawa in the 16th minute to send the ecstatic crowd.

The early setback only served as a wake up call to the lads as they continued pressing, going forward and Sserunkuuma had a chance to equalise only to force a brilliant save from Joel Mutakubwa in the 30th minute.

Six minutes later, Kiiza levelled matters when a long throw in from Tembo found unmarked Livingstone Mulondo who flicked it further to the diminutive striker to record his first goal in Vipers colours.

Towards the breather, Mulondo made a surging run through the middle before Allan Kayiwa brought him down for a caution, Masiko stepped up and hit the crossbar from a thunderous free kick.

During the second half, Kiiza a had the chance to give Vipers the lead from a beautiful cross but he couldn’t get a good enough connection to finish.

There were two more chances for Diego, one lacked power from his left foot as the angle narrowed after being put through by Tembo and the second a blockbuster of a shot sailed inches above the bar with goalkeeper Mutakubwa well beaten.

Ouma brought on Joseph Janjali for Sserunkuuma, then Brian Nkuubi was introduced in place of Diego while Abraham Ndugwa replaced Ssenfuka towards the dying minutes.

Both teams looked for the winner but the points were eventually shared leaving Vipers lagging behind in second position on the table 3 points back though KCCA might widen to six after tomorrow’s match against BUL FC.
