Vipers Sports Club fullback Bashir Asiku returned to full training on Thursday after nearly two weeks out with an ankle injury.
The youthful defender, 19, has played only eight games since the 2018/19 football season started and his last appearance for the Venoms was in the Total CAF Confederation Cup play off game at home against CS Sfaxien.
Asiku sprained his ankle in the barren stalemate with the Tunisian club and was subsequently replaced in the 50th minute by Brian Nkuubi.
The Uganda Kobs star put up a stellar performance for Vipers last season forming a solid partnership with Geoffrey Wasswa helping the team to win its third Uganda Premier League title.
He went on to make a couple of trademark interceptions and clearances in the backline and subsequently consolidated his place in the starting lineup to take the then injured Halid Lwaliwa’s place.
The center back has been training on the sides for the past week under the supervision of strength and conditioning coach Ram Nyakana Mpuga but rejoined the team today.
Asiku has been cleared to play after fully recovering though Saturday’s fixture against rivals SC Villa comes too early for him.
Vipers have 13 games remaining in the league and he will be hoping to feature and regain a place in the team.
