Vipers Sports Club settled for a point in the goalless draw against Bright Stars FC in the game played at Champions stadium, Mwererwe on Saturday. This was the second successive draw for the Venoms and the fifth this season.

Despite dominating proceedings, the cutting edge to get the goal lacked as the home team proved resilient. The game was the first for interim coach Michael Nam Ouma who joined the team at the start of this week.

He made two changes from the team that started against Tooro United FC with Brian Nkuubi and Davis Kasirye starting ahead of Abraham Ndugwa and Tito Okello respectively.

The Venoms were the better team in the opening stages of the game, with Kasirye and Sseninde coming close. Kasirye had the first realistic attempt at goal in the 17th minute but his strike sailed just above the goal area.

Four minutes later, the lanky forward had another attempt inside the box but still did not find the target. Sseninde had his ferocious shot go a few inches wide as the team kept surging forward.

In the second stanza, Steven and Dickens Okwir came on replacing Kasirye and Sseninde but the home side held on for the game to end goalless.

The draw means Vipers SC remains second on the table with 26 points but with two games in hand. The next game for us will be a home fixture against Onduparaka FC on Tuesday, 8th January 2019.
