STANBIC UGANDA CUP

Vipers Vs Rusekere Growers FC

After a disappointing display in the Caf champions league, Vipers return to the field in a Uganda cup fixture tomorrow against little known Rusekere Growers from western uganda.

For the second succesive season, the Venoms begin their knock out cup journey against a lower league opposition having faced Bronken last season and squeezed past the Kasese side with a 3-1 win.

Matches of this nature have no formula thus anything can happen as was evidenced in 2015 when Kyambogo United eliminated Vipers at the round of 64 though Martinez boys are of course favourites to progress past the milkmen.

Uganda cup is the country’s second prestigious competition whose winners qualify for Caf confederations cup therefore it must be treated with utmost respect and the mexican is expected to field a strong lineup.

Its extremely hard to look past a Vipers win in this contest as Rusekere Growers are not expected to pose a threat to the 2016 cup winners.

Team news:

Goalkeeper Bashir Sekagya is not set to feature with his return from injury not expected soon but Fabien Mutombola can hope to participate after remaining on the bench against Bul & CS Constantine respectively.

Team captain Tadeo Lwanga remain sidelined after the injury he sustained in a league match against Bul at Njeru Technical centre and Noah Wafula down with a bout of fever is also ruled out.

The rest of the players are available for selection should the tactician choose to use any for this boxing day fixture.

After today’s last training, the team remained in camp to adequately prepare as well as getting a thorough rest away from the festive celebrations.
