Vipers will welcome back Davis Kasirye for their home CAF Champions League preliminary round match with El Merriekh at the St Mary’s stadium on Wednesday.

The striker who joined Vipers this season as a free agent after signing a two year contract had been sidelined for weeks after suffering a knee injury.

He last played for the Venoms in the 1-0 victory over Nyamityobora FC at Kitende before appearing on the substitution bench against his former side SC Villa in Namboole.

Kasirye started in red hot form scoring two goals in the three matches; he netted against Ndejje and Maroons and missed a couple of chances against Nyamityobora.

His timely return boosts the Venoms offence and is expected to be selected in Javier Martinez Espinosa’ match Day squad that will face El Merriekh.

Meanwhile Fabien Mutombora and Ndizeyi Sefu are ruled out of Vipers engagements as the pair is yet to report back for duty at the club from Burundi where they had gone to represent their Nation in the U-23 qualifier double header against Tanzania.

Youngster Steven Mukwala passed fit to feature for Vipers. 

Similarly Steven Mukwala will be available for selection when Vipers SC face Police FC next weekend after shaking off a knock he sustained during the Kobs 2-0 defeat to South Sudan in the AFCON U-23 qualifier in Juba.
