Vipers Sports Club will face Sudanese side Al Merreikh in the CAF champions league preliminary round clash after the draw held in Rabat last Wednesday but released today.
The Venoms are set to take on the Arabs in a two legged tie later this month with the first leg to be held on 27/28 November and the second on 4/5 December 2018.
Vipers plays the first leg away at the Al Merreikh stadium in Khartoum before a decisive clash at home to decide the two clubs’ continental fate.
An aggregate victory over both legs will ensure progress to the first round where the winner between Gamtel of Gambia and Club Sportiff Constantinois of Algeria will be waiting for a slot in the group stages.
This marks Vipers third appearance in Africa’s continental clubs showpiece after previous outings in the 2016 Champions league and the 2017 Caf confederations cup respectively.
Vipers are yet to meet Al Merreikh in Caf continental engagements but the draw will provide the Startimes Uganda Premier league champions an opportunity to equal or surpass KCCA set records.
