Waiswa nominated for FUFA footballer of the year award

Vipers SC creative midfielder Moses Waiswa has been nominated as one of the contestants in the category of the best male footballer of 2018 in the FUFA Awards.

The awards that were launched on Wednesday with the list of nominees released had the creative mid fielder’s name on the final three man short list.

Waiswa has had a brilliant year helping both the club and country to perform well.

He was phenomenal as the Venoms won the Uganda Premier League title last season scoring four goals and assisting on eight times.

The Venoms also reached the final of this year’s Uganda Cup with Waiswa being one of the key players. The kitende based side unfortunately lost to KCCA FC.

His performance for the club went unnoticed with the midfielder summoned for the national team and went ahead to make his first start for the Cranes against Tanzania.

He has since then become a mainstay on the national team and one of the key players that could help the Cranes qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

This season, Waiswa has already scored twice for the Venoms with both goals coming from direct free kicks (against Maroons FC and SC Villa).

Waiswa will compete for the coveted award against Allan Okello (KCCA FC) and Viane Ssekajugo (Onduparaka FC). The awards gala is slated for 7th December at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
