SC Villa felt the full force of a sparkling Moses Waiswa performance on Wednesday, prompting a debate over whether the Vipers SC creative midfielder is the best in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Waiswa, who is enjoying his role in the Vipers SC midfield, this could be his season to be named among the best players and also propel his career to another level.
The Uganda Cranes midfielder has been fantastic for both the National team and club and seems to be getting better and better with every game.
He blew hot and cold last season and got many questioning if that was all he could offer. His performances were inconsistent especially in the first round where he did not have a single goal to his name.
“lt was a tough time for me then, I suffered injury set backs and this often got me under so much pressure. I needed to play for my team but I could not help my situation and I some how got frustrated,” explained Waiswa.
A few months into 2018, the soft spoken player slowly rediscovered his form and became a permanent name in the Venoms midfield.
Waiswa has since gotten better and fitter that any coach in the domestic league would die to have him in his team.
He went on to reveal “I go to the gym twice a week, that has helped me gain stamina and strength while I also practice taking free kicks after training.”
Indeed the extra training has been proven fruitful; the precision in the free kick against Maroons FC and SC Villa are only just the beginning. He has more to offer and the former St Mary’s Kitende student will be the man to watch this season.
While he may not be the biggest midfielder in Vipers, Waiswa’s vision, sublime passes and technical skills will be essential to the Venoms title charge this season.
